Day 32 - 0 miles. Austin

A day off!!  We did our laundry, got our bike fixed, and hung out with Russ, Sway, Jack and Cyrus. A real landmark in the trip.

 

 

Day 31 - 45 miles. Austin

We made it to Austin and the grandkids!  The bike is downtown getting new brakes,  and we had another day of endless rolling hills. There was one flooded road to deal with where Matt fell, so we waded across and had wet feet for hours.  We were really happy to get here!

 

 

Day 30. Part Two

Today's ride was rolling hills in Texas' Hill Country and only 55 miles which feels like a day off after biking 85 miles yesterday.
Beautiful wild flowers line the road way as we ride past ranch and cattle, it's really a beautiful part of Texas   We also had some visitors in camp! - Annie

 

 

Day 30 - 55 miles. Pedernales State Park

Today's ride was a roller coaster of hills!  They weren't too long or steep, but there sure were a lot of them. So even though the mileage wasn't too long, the day was tiring. We are staying at a state park with lots of grass and trees.  Tomorrow we will reach Austin. Yea!!! -Sue

Day 29 - 81.6 miles Fredericksburg TX

Today was a beautiful ride thru rolling country. The terrain was more like what we were used to at home, and we had fun with the up and down hills. Some were too steep and we had to walk,  but mainly it was a lot of fun. We also passed the halfway point of the trip in Kent. -Sue

 

 

 

Day 28 - 0 miles Lost Maples State Park

Today we took a day off and rode in the van. We were worn out, and I needed some down time to wash myself and my clothes. It turns out that was a good decision, partly because we had a horrendous thunderstorm last night with 3 inches of rain that flooded our tent. The ride was scheduled to be 91 miles with several steep climbs. So we rode in the van, manned the water stop, and dried everyone's gear. 

 

Day 27 - 76 miles. Brackettville TX

Today we did the whole ride. Yea!! It took us 9 hours, but we did it.  We are staying at a beautiful camping area at Fort Davis. We actually have green GRASS to camp on.  The most interesting sight today was the Amistad Reservoir.  We also saw a really big dead snake and more Border Patrol guys.  They are all over the place! - Sue
